35 miles, elevation 2,100 feet. For intermediate and advanced riders. Big rolling hills with a few challenging climbs.
This is one of our favorite rides! The route is through the stunning Virginia countryside, past horse and cattle farms, apple orchards, vineyards, old churches and cemeteries. At the beginning and end of the ride, we will travel a few miles on a highway with a roomy shoulder but mostly we will be on rolling hills and moderately hilly country roads. There are a few breathtaking (literally!) climbs, but well worth the effort. We’ll stop for lunch at the Orleans Market where farmers, farriers and cyclists meet. This is a no- drop ride, with a leader and a sweep and no one will be left behind.
After completing your registration, you will receive a confirmation email with additional event details and start location. If you don't see it, check your junk mail folder.
There is limited space, so please register early. Although this ride is FREE for Members, you do need to register.
22 miles, 1400" elevation. Suitable for advanced beginners and above. Gravel roads with gentle hills and a few short steeper climbs.
Have you been wondering what all this fuss is about gravel riding? Join us to explore gravel riding on this scenic loop out of Bluemont, VA in Loudon County and find out. You will experience low traffic roads along the beautiful countryside. We’ll see plenty of horses, a few goats, fantastic old stone walls, scenic churches and graveyards, and beautiful small communities like Unison. The gravel is well packed for the most part, with just a few bumpy sections. Come along and give it a try!
The route is 21.6 miles with 1400 feet of elevation. This is a ride for advanced beginners and above. There are primarily gentle hills with just a few short, steeper ups and downs. You must be comfortable handling some uneven terrain and should have tires that are at least 35mm, preferably with some textured tread. Gravel bikes, road bikes with 35mm+ tires, hybrids with 35mm+ tires, or mountain bikes are all options. There will be a leader and sweep, and no one will be left behind.
There is limited space, so please register early. This ride is free for Members but you must register.
38 or 50 miles on flat roads and gently rolling hills. For Intermediate and Advanced riders.
Join one of WWO's “teams” at the End Hunger in Calvert County Bicycle Ride sponsored by Community Harvest Network. WWO will organize two groups -- choose between 38 or 50 miles. This is a chance to ride in a larger event with a fun and supportive group. The End Hunger Bicycle Ride raises funds to support the Community Harvest Network's food bank and culinary workforce training program in Calvert County. The ride will highlight the treasures of Southern Maryland including the bay-front, marinas, farmland and wineries. This is a well-organized, low-key ride with well-stocked rest stops, and a picnic lunch and entertainment when you finish.
You will need to register and pay at the Ride Registration Website. The fee is $60 until March 31 and increases to $70 after that. You may also wish to commit to an additional fundraising amount. WWO will not have a separate fee for this event but you do need to register on the WWO website so we can send you the WWO team logistics.
After you complete the WWO registration, you will receive a confirmation email with additional information. If you do not see the confirmation, please check your junk folder.
