This is a 22 mile, 1200 feet elevation gain gravel ride, with 90% of the ride on gravel. It is considered a good ride for intro to gravel. This is on low traffic roads, but as is typical for gravel, a few short but punchy climbs. Suitable for advanced beginners and above.
This gravel ride lets you explore the northern part of Loudoun County, with rural farms, horses, fantastic old stone homes, and the and option for a coffee stop in the back street of Lovettsville. This ride is a moderate distance and elevation gain, so a good choice if you don’t have a lot of experience on gravel. We start and end at the Harvest Gap Brewery, so food and a refreshment at the end is an option.
There are primarily gentle hills with just a few short, steeper hills. You must be comfortable handling some uneven terrain and should have tires that are at least 35mm, preferably with some textured tread. Gravel bikes, road bikes with 35mm+ tires, hybrids with 35mm+ tires, or mountain bikes are all options. There will be a leader and sweep, and no one will be left behind.
There is limited space, so please register early. This ride is free for Members but you must register.
