Join us for a ride in beautiful Fauquier County, Virginia with farms, forests and history. We'll start at Powers Brewery where after the ride we'll enjoy drinks, food and conversation. If you've participated in the Great Pumpkin Ride, you'll be familiar with many of these wonderful rural roads with rolling hills and low traffic.

As with all WWO rides, there will be a leader and a sweep, and no one will be left behind.

Sunset, nature and paddling - one of the best combinations for relaxation!  This leisurely paddle is designed for beginner and experienced paddlers.

Explore Mattawoman Creek during the annual American Lotus bloom and soak in the many colors of sunset while on the water. Mattawoman Creek is a calm,  freshwater tidal body of water that creates a unique environment for the native flora and fauna which includes one of the largest native stands of the American. Tandem kayaks are used in order to create a more intimate setting. All equipment, paddles and PFDs and necessary instruction is included on this professionally guided paddle.

Bring water and snacks and don't forget your binoculars!

35 miles, 2000 feet elevation.  Scenic rural roads with several challenging climbs. For Intermediate and Advanced riders.  

Leaving from Riley’s Lock, we will explore the western reaches of the Montgomery County Agriculture Reserve along low-traffic roads, passing working farms, cornfields and woodlands. The ride begins with two climbs that will get your heart pumping with a few more challenging hills for good measure before we end. But it’s well worth the effort! We’ll enjoy two climbs and a long downhill on Mt. Nebo Road before ending with the rollers on River Road. This ride is suitable for intermediate riders (who like hills) and advanced riders. As with all our rides, there will be a leader and a sweep, and no one will be left behind.

After the ride, we invite you to join us in collecting trash along Riley's Lock Road, the "Rustic Road" that WWO has adopted as part of the County's program to preserve historic and scenic roadways and keep them litter free.

Board members meet quarterly to discuss policy and to focus on the mission, strategy and goals of WWO in an effort to better serve our members and trip participants. 5.2 miles, Level 5 rating. Suitable for intermediate to advanced hikers.  Mostly a moderate trail with some strenuous ups/downs along a rocky terrain. You'll be well rewarded with stunning overlooks, panoramic views, and unique rock formations.

Located in north-central Maryland, Catoctin Mountain Park is part of the forested ridge-range that forms the northeastern rampart of the Blue Ridge Mountains in the Appalachian Mountains System.

The park features sparkling streams and panoramic vistas of the Monocacy Valley that include Thurmont Vista and Chimney Rock.

The Thurmont Vista, with an elevation of 1,502 feet, is a relatively short steep climb with views to the east of the Frederick Valley and Thurmont.

Chimney Rock is at about 1,400 feet in elevation and looks out to the east over the piedmont region. 

Wolf Rock, a prominent outcropping of Quartzite with fissures, fractures-crack systems, blocks and faces, provide opportunities for scrambling if you choose to do so.

33 miles, 1800 feet elevation. Suitable for Intermediate and Advanced Riders. Gently rolling hills with a few good climbs.

We found that the best way to do this route in the summer is to include a brewery! This ride will explore the far reaches of Montgomery County's farmland and green space and take us into Howard County’s preserved farmland. The route is on gently rolling hills and low-traffic roads with a few climbs for good measure. This ride has fantastic scenery and beautiful vistas of big open sky, farms and orchards. We end at the Elder Pine Brewing Company where we’ll relax outside and enjoy the refreshments.

Join us for a long weekend camping, hiking and tubing in wild and wonderful West Virginia!  

 We will meet up Thursday evening to set up our campsite at the campground.  After a leisurely breakfast on Friday, we will visit Blackwater Falls State Park, located in the Allegheny Mountains of Tucker County, and named for the amber waters of the falls, a 57-foot cascade tinted by the tannic acid of fallen hemlock and red spruce needles. The falls, along with some of the park's other features like Elakala Falls, Lindy Point and Pendeleton Point Overlook, are some of the state's most photographed spots.  We'll explore the town of Thomas and stop by the Purple Fiddle, an iconic music venue, for lunch.  On Saturday, we will have a relaxing morning tubing on the flatwaters of the Cheat River.  Campsite cooking around a campfire will complete the day.  On Sunday, we pack up and head home.  

WWO has a limited amount of camping equipment to lend as a member benefit. Let the trip leader know if you need to borrow any equipment. 

Trip details with suggested equipment list and driving directions to the campground will be provided by email the week before the trip.  Trip fee does not include tubing or food.  

This trip is Thursday evening to Sunday morning, although you can join any time.  We'll do our best to coordinate ride sharing!

37 miles, elevation 1200 feet.  For Intermediate and Advanced Riders. Low traffic country roads with rolling hills.

The title of the ride says it all! This ride is a beautiful tour of the rolling hills, forests and farms of Fauquier County, VA. We spend some time on Rogues Road, so named because of the highwaymen that used to frequent this location. This route visits Rogues Road for about eight miles and is mostly traffic-and robber-free. We will have a mid-ride rest stop at the Warrenton-Fauquier Airport. This is a no-drop ride with a leader and a sweep.
