This 5.0 mile trip has 600' elevation gain and is suitable for beginner backpackers.
Hone Quarry Falls offers an easy, secluded hike with a big payoff. Tucked away in the Shenandoah Mountain area, these 25-foot falls are the largest set of waterfalls in the region and a hidden gem that remains largely undiscovered by many. The waterfall features two ledge falls and a dramatic main fall, providing several picturesque viewpoints along the stream.
The hike will meander past a tranquil marsh pond, with a traverse through a section of old-growth forest, where small streams trickle down from Pond Knob, adding to the serene ambiance. The Slate Springs and Waterfall trails gently incline as they lead us toward the waterfall area, making for a pleasant and accessible journey.
This hike not only rewards you with the stunning sight of Hone Quarry Falls but also offers the chance to immerse yourself in the natural beauty of the forest, complete with the soothing sounds of flowing water and the rustling of leaves.
