Ranked among the top 5 backpacking routes in the mid-Atlantic, the Spruce Knob / Seneca Creek circuit offers a spectacular blend of beautiful meadows, mountain vistas, cascading waterfalls, and unparalleled camping spots. Beginning at Spruce Knob, the highest peak in West Virginia, this hike includes a short 1/2-mile circuit at the summit, boasting panoramic views of the surrounding valley.
The optimal time to embark on this adventure is between July and September, when temperatures at these 5,000-foot altitudes resemble a pleasant spring climate. With its breathtaking scenery and excellent camping spots, Spruce Knob / Seneca Creek promises an unforgettable backpacking experience for outdoor enthusiasts.
