The James River Face Wilderness Area is a pristine natural sanctuary nestled within the Blue Ridge Mountains. This designated wilderness encompasses a rugged and picturesque landscape, characterized by steep slopes, dense forests, and the meandering James River. Hikers exploring this area can witness the breathtaking sight of the river cutting through the mountains, creating a geologic marvel known as a “water gap.” With its remote and unspoiled beauty, the James River Face Wilderness offers a serene and immersive experience for nature lovers seeking solitude and adventure.
