Log-In
5 miles. Level 5 rating, suitable for intermediate to advanced hikers. Hike to an observation point over a beautiful 81-foot waterfall.
Lewis Falls is the fourth tallest waterfall in Shenandoah National Park at 81 feet. The trail is a moderate 3.3 loop hike beginning at the Big Meadows Campground; however, we will begin the hike outside the campground for a warmup along the Story of the Forest Trail.
Lewis Falls Trail winds its way through a dense forest with a couple down trees and lichen-covered rock outcroppings. About 1.3 miles the trail will get steeper, and you'll hear the cascading water of Hawksbill Creek. Shortly, we'll arrive at an observation platform for a fantastic view of the tumbling falls. We'll make our way along the A.T. footpath back to the amphitheater.
As with all WWO hikes, there will be a leader and a sweep, and no one will be left behind.
After you complete your registration, you will receive a confirmation email with additional event details and start location.
There is limited space, so please register early. Although this hike is FREE for Premium Members, you do need to register.
