Discover Northern Virginia’s best kept secret at Prince William Forest Park! This park provides visitors a unique opportunity to immerse themselves in an abundance of natural features, ecosystems, flora, and fauna, not to mention old-time history. We’ll be traversing several trails, including Turkey Run Ridge, South Valley, Taylor Farm Road and Old Blacktop Road, to create a 5-mile loop through rolling woodlands and stream valleys. The trail surface is mostly dirt, with some rocky, root stretches and two dirt/gravel roads.
Afterwards, as an option, we will visit the National Museum of the Marine Corps, which is about a 10-minute drive from the park, open 9 AM – 5 PM. There is no admission fee, but donations are graciously accepted. There are multiple exhibits inside and a wonderful walking path outside that circumvents many statues. Both are a great way to pay respect to ALL our military personnel on this Veterans Day. The museum store will be open and the Devil Dog Diner and Tun Tavern, where we can stop for lunch.
